History

In 2005 members of the North Kitsap High School Class of 1962, led by Lou Lawrence, in cooperation with North Kitsap Education Foundation, initiated an annual golf tournament for the purpose of raising funds for scholarships for worthy graduating North Kitsap students who have not received substantial scholarship or financial assistance from other sources. The scholarships are renewable for four years.

In its inaugural year of 2005 the tournament attracted 27 golfers and raised more than $1,200.

Support of the annual golf tournament has expanded well beyond the Class of ’62 and promises to grow in coming years.  Lou Lawrence has initiated discussions with other alums about expanding the event beyond a golf tournament and trying to raise funds for additional North Kitsap Education Foundation programs.

Standing Challenges

Roger Bird, ’60, led his classmates to raise $2,000 in sponsorships for 2006 and hopes to reach $10,000 for the Class of 1960 for 2007!  Roger has issued a challenge to all classes to raise at least $6,000.
